In its early years it was loved as dance music for the two-step. In fact, books have been written about Tin Pan Alley alone, beginning with Isaac Goldberg's Tin Pan Alley: A Chronicle of American Popular Music (New York: John Day, 1930). Ragtime has not been exhausted as a musical form.
