At the extreme, it is no longer debated that all the world’s people are of African ancestry, and hence share, to some greater or lesser degree, in the knowledge, beliefs, and social principles invented in humanity’s long development there.
METHODOLOGY The hypothesis to be investigated by this work is that diaspora remittances to Francophone Africa south of the Sahara contribute to ﬁnancing basic social services and infrastructures. This paper uses the descriptive approach, based on literature review and secondary data to determine the contribution of diaspora remittances to the development of basic social services. The study draws on secondary material along with inputs from informants on socioeconomic and commercial initiatives relating to remittances.
